2019 Kia Sedona Vs. 2020 Chrysler Voyager

2019 Kia Sedona Vs. 2020 Chrysler Voyager split screen comparison

The release of a new model is always an exciting time on Kia’s lineup. It’s also, however, an exciting time when it’s a model released that will compete with Kia in one of the brand’s segments. Having done more than simply hint at discontinuing the high-value and severely outdated Dodge Grand Caravan, Chrysler announced that the Voyager would be taking its place as an entry-level minivan, sitting below the range-topping Chrysler Pacifica.

Utilizing the same platform, design and internals as the Chrysler Pacifica, the 2020 Chrysler Voyager is simply a low-trimmed iteration of the more luxurious minivan. We’re putting it up against the minivan champion – 2019 Kia Sedona. With a crossover-like design, several awards and an industry-best warranty, the Kia Sedona is a rockstar in a class known for staid and unchallenging design and engineering. Let’s see how the new Voyager stacks up to this future icon.

Spartan Voyager is No Match for Enduring Sedona

We’re always excited when a new model hits the market for any manufacturer. After all, this means that the automotive field is growing, and it presents new challenges to the current players.

IN the case of the 2020 Chrysler Voyager, however, it seems those challenges will be minimal and surmountable.

The Voyager nameplate is historic, representing one of the first minivans to ever debut and offer competent third-row family transportation with plenty of room for cargo and people. The Kia Sedona owes a lot to the Chrysler Voyager’s name, but this new model turns out to simply be a spun-off version of the lower trim levels of the Chrysler Pacifica and that’s disappointing.

With the Kia Sedona having already surpassed the Chrysler Pacifica for value and features offered, it easily breezes past the more Spartan entry-level Voyager in terms of cargo space, fuel range, warranty coverage and price. It also has a higher predicted reliability courtesy of a J.D. Power Initial Quality Study win in its segment.

IF you’re in the market for a comfortable, third-row passenger and cargo-transportation experience, only the Kia Sedona gives you that and more. More meaning its incredible crossover-like style, powerful V6 with 3,500 lbs. of towing and luxurious interior amenities, many of which are standard from the base model up.
