If you’re looking for a sports car, do you want something that is one-of-a-kind, or one that is a clone of an existing model? As we look at the 2018 Kia Stinger and its base 4-cylinder trims vs. the 2017 Honda Civic Type R and its 4-cylinder power, we have the first-ever Kia sports car, the Stinger, against a variant of Honda’s compact car, with a rear spoiler and more power.
Look beyond the exterior design, and the 2018 Stinger is made for a roomy ride, as well as a sport-injected experience, with an 8-speed transmission, which gives you a more responsive feel than the 2017 Civic R’s 6-speed transmission. And you also get cool touches with the Stinger, like a D-shaped steering wheel, and available safety features like Lane Keep Assist and Forward Collision Avoidance, and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, which outclasses the Type R, which does not come with this array of features.
