What’s Going on in Tampa Bay This Weekend?

Tampa Bay Events March 10 and March 11, 2018

250 sunny days a year, 0 inches of snow and half of a football team. Yep, living near the Tampa Bay is great! We get to enjoy some of the most enviable weather in the continental United States and rich cultural palette that gives us plenty of delicious foods and interesting things to do.

Well into March, things have only been getting better! Not only is our weather hitting that sweet spot between Winter’s whimsical 40-degree swings and summer’s humid sauna packed with vacationers, but events are unfolding to take advantage of the beautiful weather. Let’s look at some of the best events which are coming up for this weekend – Saturday, March 10, and Sunday, March 11.

1. Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg @ Downtown St. Pete – St. Petersburg, FL

With iconic racing events like the Daytona 500, Florida is a major destination for automotive racing enthusiasts. Beginning on Friday, March 9, you’ll be able to check out one of the most heart-racing automotive events as the Verizon IndyCar series kicks off with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.

While round track racing is a huge interest of ours, there is something special about seeing the streets of St. Petersburg transformed into a closed circuit for these lightning fast engineering marvels. You can buy full event tickets, single-day tickets and find out more information on the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Pete website by clicking here.

2. Gasparilla Music Festival @ Downtown Tampa – Tampa, FL

Although we’ve written about it in a separate blog post, we’d be remiss to leave out arguably the biggest entertainment destination this weekend, the 2018 Gasparilla Music Festival. Slated to draw tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of locals and travelers alike, the 2018 Gasparilla Music Festival brings internationally-renowned bands like Warpaint, Spoon and Father John Misty to our backyard.

Oh yeah, we forgot to mention, THE ROOTS ARE GOING TO BE THERE ALSO. With five stages, the Gasparilla Music Festival also brings local and regional artists to Downtown Tampa. You can find more information about the festival including advanced ticket sales and VIP packages on their website by clicking here.

3. Fight For Air Climb @ Bank of America Plaza – Tampa, FL

The Fight for Air Climb is a 42-story, 914-step stair climb that works to benefit the American Lung Association. Choosing to participate is a way to use your lungs to raise funds and awareness for those who can’t.

Held on Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 8:00 AM (ET), the 2018 Fight For Air Climb is a great opportunity to “step up” and show that, while breathing is maybe the thing we take most for granted, it’s a precious gift and one that can be used to help others. Registration and more information are available on the American Lung Association’s website at the Fight for Air Climb page.

If you’re not sure if this is your sort of event, you’re able to come and lend support to those who are taking the climb. When it comes to making strides for health and the fight for clean air, every little bit helps.
