Battle of the Brands: Kia vs Volkswagen

Kia vs Volkswagen Lineup Comparison

Kia has long been a competitor of the Volkswagen brand, with both auto manufacturers offering a lineup of affordably priced midsize vehicles. Neither brand includes any pickup trucks or more than one performance vehicle in their lineups and both have instead put a focus on midsize cars and SUVs.

With a similar variety of vehicles in their mixes, we thought it would only be fitting to put Kia up against Volkswagen in this edition of Friendly Kia’s Battle of the Brands. Keep reading to see how these two auto manufacturers compare and to see which brand lands on top.

Kia vs VW

The Kia brand has gained a lot of attention over the last year with its release of the 2021 Kia Seltos and the debut of the upcoming 2021 Kia Sorento. The Kia brand was once best known for its boxy Soul crossover but has now become an incredibly popular choice among families and SUV shoppers.

When it comes to cars and sedans, Volkswagen is one of the Kia brand’s top competitors. That’s why we thought VW would be a perfect contender for this edition of Friendly Kia’s Battle of the Brands. Let’s see how the two brands compare below!

Kia Delivers Award-Winning Safety and Dependability

The Kia lineup offers shoppers 18 different models to choose from, five of which include alternative fuel options. The VW lineup offers interested buyers fewer model options and limits their choice to just one alternative fuel model. Kia not only offers sedans in hybrid variants but crossovers as well, giving shoppers plenty of options to help them find their fit.

Two members of the Kia lineup were given top marks in the J.D. Power 2020 dependability study and six 2020 Kia models have earned recognition for their top safety features by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Volkswagen on the other hand only has had one model rank among the 2020 J.D. Power winners and just one has earned an IIHS Top Safety Pick title.
