Let’s Compare Kia’s Surprising Sedans – the Kia Stinger and the Kia Cadenza

Kia Stinger Vs. Kia Cadenza Luxury and Performance Comparison

When Kia debuted the Kia Telluride at the North American International Auto Show earlier this year, they also debuted a new slogan. The brand would now get behind “Give it Everything,” which perfectly exemplifies the commitment seemingly inherent for Kia to stock even their most basic models with a ton of great technology that bests the classes in which they compete.

The new slogan is great, and we love it. The old slogan, however, said just as much about the Kia brand. Kia’s “The Power to Surprise” also managed to capture the ethos of the Red Oval, revealing a company that was unbound to traditional ways of thinking with regards to automobiles and the narrowly-defined segments thereof.

Two models that emerged under Kia’s “The Power to Surprise” slogan are the Kia Cadenza and Kia Stinger, which both prove the slogan accurate.

On the one hand, the Kia Cadenza is a full-size sedan that seemingly has its sights set on the entry-luxury segment and models by Acura, Infiniti, Buick, Lexus and Audi rather than the Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans of the world. In its second generation, the Kia Cadenza has an air of sophistication and power that is rarely seen from manufacturers outside of Europe.

On the other hand, the Kia Stinger surprised nearly everybody when it debuted to a fanfare of awards from reputable and distinguished publications like Wards, Car and Driver and Business Insider. Immediately, it became apparent that the German brands would no longer be able to sit back on their laurels, relying on brand power to sell. Luxury and performance were now available to the masses.

As you can see in the above chart, the differences really work to denote two different types of sedan. The Kia Stinger is a sports sedan with luxury car features. It has a smaller interior and less passenger space than the Cadenza, which is closer to a proper entry-luxury sedan.

With the Cadenza being focused on driver and passenger comfort, it is a heavier vehicle meaning that the larger and more powerful engine than the base Kia Stinger doesn’t necessarily compel it to 60 miles an hour faster.

That’s because the Kia Cadenza isn’t built for track use. It’s a comfortable car that has enough power to forbid any doubting of its passing abilities or quick acceleration, but it doesn’t share the Stinger’s enthusiasm for all-out speed.

Both models exemplify Kia’s former slogan and current slogan. Both feature plenty of incredible standard amenities like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and both have Kia’s industry-best 10-year/100,000-mile engine/powertrain warranty.

With only $110 difference in MSRP between the two, the choice is yours. Whatever you prefer, you’ll get a great car at an unbeatable price.
