Kia Sportage GT Line U.S. Release Date and Availability
When it comes to enjoying life behind the wheel, possibilities are an important consideration. After all, knowing that only a mild off-road trail separates you and a secluded beach with excellent vistas and soft, warm sand, makes that activity possible only if you have a vehicle that can get you there.
Because possibilities are important, being ready for anything with a capable and competent crossover is a great way to ensure that you’re getting the most out of every chance to do something wonderful and unexpected. Among the legions of compact crossovers fighting for your attention and butt in their seats, the 2019 Kia Sportage stands above the fold.
Beyond simply its available turbocharged engine, luxurious interior and sterling reliability record, the Kia Sportage has something that many crossovers in this class don’t – a personality. The 2019 Kia Sportage is fun and whimsical, featuring a grille that looks like a face eager to eat the road in front of it.
If you happen to live in the European market, you’ll have access to another personality – a decidedly more aggressive and sporty one. Today, we’re going to look at a Kia You Can’t Buy in the U.S. with the Kia Sportage GT Line.
What is the Kia Sportage GT Line?
The Kia Sportage GT Line bolsters the all-new European spec Kia Sportage with more than just sporty accents. The entire design looks more at home among the Porsche and supercar SUVs than it does competing against RAV4s and CR-Vs.
19-inch alloy wheels, dual exhaust, and LED headlights and fog lights (in Kia’s “Ice Cube” style) are present to add practical appeal to the 2019 Kia Sportage GT Line.
Inside, the Kia Sportage GT Line features black leather upholstery with red piping and stitching throughout. A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with satellite navigation, backup camera and heated front and rear seats are standard.
For extra luxury, Kia also has the Kia Sportage GT Line S adding further flair courtesy of a panoramic sunroof, adaptive lighting system, 360-degree monitor, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, 8-speaker JBL® premium sound system and more.
Three engine options are available, including a turbocharged 1.6L engine (174 bhp), 1.6L diesel (134 bhp) and 2.0L 4-cylinder (182 bhp). Depending on the engine you choose, you’ll have either a 6-speed manual, 7-speed DCT or 8-speed automatic transmission connected to your powerplant.

Will the Kia Sportage GT Line Come to the United States?
The GT Line variant of the European Kia Sportage is the next-generation. For that reason, we expect the North American Sportage will maintain many of the same design elements that the all-new European model possesses. Such design changes would bring the new Sportage in line with vehicles like the 2020 Kia Soul, a model which curiously has a trim level called the GT Line.

We are almost certain that the future iteration of the Kia Sportage will feature a trim level called the GT Line that adds the performance-based style and design of the European model to the best compact crossover on these American shores.
