First-Generation Kia Forte Model History
Model years: 2010 – 2013
Model variations: Coupe (Koup), Sedan, Hatchback
Engines: 2.0-liter CVVT engine, 2.4-liter engine
Transmissions: 5-speed manual or automatic transmission, 4-speed automatic transmission, 6-speed manual or automatic transmission
The Kia Forte hit the market with three model options in tow – a coupe variation Kia referred to as the Forte Koup, a Forte sedan, and a Forte hatchback. The hatchback Forte model joined this Kia lineup a year after the coupe and sedan variations were unveiled. This Kia model offered shoppers an affordable mid-size vehicle that came equipped with convenient in-car technology like a four-speaker audio system, CD/MP3 player, SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio, iPod-compatible USB input jack, and Bluetooth® connectivity.
Second-Generation Kia Forte Model History
Model years: 2014 – 2018
Model variations: Coupe (Koup), Sedan, Hatchback (Forte5)
Engines: 2.0-liter GDI four-cylinder Inline-four engine, 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine
Transmissions: 6-speed manual transmission, 6-speed automatic transmission
In its second generation, the Kia Forte hatchback was renamed to the Forte5 and the Forte Koup was removed from the model lineup after 2016. The second-generation Kia Forte welcomed a full lineup of exciting features that made this affordable mid-size car even more appealing to drivers. The Forte offered standard features like Bluetooth®, UVO eServices with Rear Camera Display, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™, SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated cruise control and audio buttons, FlexSteer, power windows and LED positioning headlights with fog lights.

Now in its third generation, the Kia Forte re-entered the automotive market with a sophisticated design that appealed to the sporty side of drivers. Taking styling cues from the Kia Stinger, the Kia Forte now appeals to an even wider range of automotive shoppers. This third-generation Forte offers many standard features that are often upgrades in competing models. Such features include dual-zone automatic temperature controls, automatic front headlights, a rear trunk light, a tilt and telescopic steering column, rear-seat heat ducts, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, steering wheel-mounted audio system controls, and safety features like Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance, and Lane Keeping Assist.
