Is the 2020 Kia Soul a Good Car for Pet Owners?
For some of us our pets are our at-home companions, someone to come home to for unconditional love after a long day at work. For others, our pets are our ride-or-die, best buds for life who we just can’t imagine going on any adventure without.
Those of us who refer to our furry four-legged friends as our children need a vehicle that offers a stamp of approval from dogs. One vehicle that has recently earned a pup-approved title is the 2020 Kia Soul, which has been named one of Autotrader’s 10 Best Cars for Dogs. After this title win, the question isn’t “Is the 2020 Kia Soul a good car for pet owners?” Instead, the question is “How pet-friendly is the Kia Soul?”

Kia Soul Makes Every Day National Dog Day
In celebration of this year’s National Dog Day, the team at Autotrader put together a list of pet-approved vehicles for 2020. This list was designed as a guide for pet owners who are looking for their next vehicle and want one that will offer their pups the same amount of comfort as it will them and their friends. The members of this pup-approved list offer standout safety, comfort, and convenience features that are tailored to both two- and four-legged riders.
“The Soul has been a longstanding success because its versatility accommodates many different lifestyles, and this Autotrader accolade reinforces there is a Soul for everyone, including dog owners,” said Sean Yoon, President & CEO, Kia Motors America, Kia Motors North America. “Whether you’re riding with your pup around town or packing the whole family up for a weekend road trip, the Soul is perfectly cut out for canines.”
Pet-Friendly Features in the 2020 Kia Soul
The 2020 Kia Soul isn’t just a knockout among human shoppers, but their favorite shotgun rider pups as well. The 2020 Soul offers ample cargo space, under-seat storage, pet-friendly interiors, and safety-focused features that will have pet parents riding with confidence.
The Soul offers 24.2 cubic feet of standard cargo space behind the rear seats, offering plenty of room for your pup’s weekend bags or favorite toys. If you need even more space in the Soul the rear seats can be folded flat to expand the open cargo area to 62.1 cubic feet of space.
The LATCH system in the Soul may be ideal for children’s car seats but it can also be used to anchor down pet harnesses and travel beds to keep your dog safe and comfortable on the road. The vehicle’s standard cloth seating will stand up against your pup’s nails during long trips, while the available leather interior will make cleaning up any loose dog hair a breeze.
Passenger safety is a priority in the Soul, which is why the Soul offers a range of pet- and driver-approved safety features, such as Forward Collision-Avoidance, Driver Attention Warning, and Smart Cruise Control. The newest 2021 Kia Soul offers even more safety for pet owners with the new standard Rear Occupant Alert System, which helps prevent rear-seat passengers and pets from being left behind while exiting the vehicle.
