Kia Sedona Makes Way for Kia Carnival Lineup

Is Kia Discontinuing the Kia Sedona?

It seems that more and more vehicles these days are dropping off of brand lineups and model ranges are growing smaller. That’s not the case for the Kia brand. While Kia has removed some vehicles – such as the long-standing Kia Optima – it has replaced the outgoing models with all-new offerings.

Rumors have been spinning for the last few months around whether the Kia brand is discontinuing the Kia Sedona minivan and the verdict is in – it is. The Kia brand is set to discontinue the Kia Sedona to make way for the all-new Kia Carnival.

Kia Brand Brings Kia Carnival Lineup to the U.S. Market

Rear view of 2021 Kia Carnival

The Kia Sedona minivan has been a part of the Kia brand’s lineup since 2002 and now, 18 years later, it is set to bid its farewell to the U.S. market. To take its place is the Kia Carnival, a Kia minivan that has been a favorite on the market in other areas of the world.

The Kia Carnival can be thought of as an upscale and high-class version of the Kia Sedona. This people-mover offers sharp exterior styling that is reminiscent of the updated 2021 Kia Sorento. The muscular exterior of the Carnival is less of a minivan and more of a large SUV.

The Carnival in other countries offers up to 11 total seats inside the cabin and while we aren’t sure if the U.S. variant will offer that much space, we are sure that there will be more interior space than the outgoing Sedona. Overall, the Carnival is larger than the Sedona, with more room in the interior and a larger wheelbase.

We expect the upcoming U.S. Kia Carnival to look like the existing model, which you can get a look at in the video below.
