2020 North American SUV of the Year Winner Announced
We’re big fans of the awards season here on the Friendly Kia Blog. In case it wasn’t clear, we love a lot of different pop culture. The awards season brings us back to the previous year, reminding us of the great times we had at the movies, in front of our TVs or maybe just driving around listening to a heat-seeking album.

When you partner with a brand as innovative and future-minded as Kia, awards season also gives you plenty of opportunities to celebrate the vehicles you sell every day. While we’re always proud of awards like Top Safety Pick/Top Safety Pick+ distinctions from the IIHS, not every award is created equal.
The fact of the matter is, due to the issuing authorities, some awards carry a level of prestige that others can’t match. Among the most prestigious awards are MotorTrend’s Vehicles of the Year and NACTOY (North American Car of the Year)’s North American Car/Truck/SUV of the Year awards.
With the 2020 Kia Telluride already having won MotorTrend’s extremely coveted SUV of the year award, beating out entries like the Hyundai Palisade, Lincoln Aviator and Cadillac XT6, its path was clear: to be the best SUV on the market.
Well, the 2020 Kia Telluride seems to have done it again.
2020 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year Winner
Just this last week, the 2020 Kia Telluride was announced as the winner of the 2020 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year.
Voted on by a range of prestigious and trusted journalists from the North American Car of the Year committee, the North American Utility Vehicle of the Year award is given to SUVs that embody daring style, customer-friendly qualities and industry-leading reliability.
For this award, the Kia Telluride beat out the Hyundai Palisade and Lincoln Aviator, with whom it shared its finalists’ stall. It joins the 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette (Car of the Year winner) and the Jeep Gladiator (2020 Truck of the Year) in exemplifying superiority over its class competitors.
The 2020 Kia Telluride has won nearly a dozen awards, including most recently SUV of the Year from MotorTrend and the Top-Rated SUV from Edmunds. We expect this trend to continue and the upcoming 2021 Kia Seltos to have a similar impact on the popular subcompact SUV segment.
