2019 Kia Cadenza Specs and Features Speculation
Kia has grown into a brand that mastered the “show and sell” method of producing something amazing, showing it off and then having a very brief period before it is available to purchase. The Kia Stinger, arguably the most hyped and marketed Kia product ever produced, was shown off and within a year in our showroom. This method has allowed them to “strike the iron when it’s hot” and capitalize on the excitement around a new or redesigned product.
The Kia Cadenza is a model that could benefit from some hype. A Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Kia Cadenza competes in a class where the line is blurred between a luxury car and a mass-market sedan. It’s high-value safety, comfort, convenience and reliability in a beautiful and elegant sedan.

Having been redesigned and re-engineered for the 2017 model year, the Kia Cadenza has been making waves as a “dark horse” alternative that provides more style and sport than class competitors like the Toyota Avalon and Nissan Maxima while also giving drivers more value than luxury sedans like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 series and Audi A7.
While Kia hasn’t said or released anything about the 2019 Kia Cadenza yet, we have some thoughts as to what you can expect on the upcoming refresh. Here they are:
1. The 2019 Kia Cadenza will see few changes to powertrain specs and features
With the 2019 Kia Cadenza bringing Kia’s 3.3L V6 (used in the Sorento and Sedona and twin-turbocharged in the Kia Stinger) to the full-size sedan class, drivers get the best of both worlds. Not only can you enjoy the confident acceleration and assertive passing that 290 horsepower provide, but you also get up to 28 highway miles per gallon.
We expect this engine and Kia’s brilliant 8-speed automatic transmission with Sportmatic® and Smart Shift and Drive to continue into the 2019 model.
2. The 2019 Kia Cadenza will see some new colors added to the fold
With Kia ever expanding the available colors offered on new models (including the Kia Sorento and Kia Stinger), the Cadenza is likely to get some new hues. We’re probably not alone in this, but we’d love to see a bold color option like the Stinger’s HiChroma Red available for this stylish full-size.
The Cadenza’s 2018 palette is very subtle and refined, but the decision to offer sportier colors may better position the 2019 Kia Cadenza to compete with German luxury sedans that pride themselves on being both sporty and sophisticated.
3. The 2019 Kia Cadenza will give us technology upgrades and standard active safety
Kia’s decision to make a full-suite of Drive Wise active safety features standard on the midsize 2019 Kia Optima should bode well for those hoping for advanced safety in their entry-level 2019 Kia Cadenza. Currently, features like Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking and more are available on the Premium trim.
With momentum from the Optima and Forte, Kia could make the 2019 Kia Cadenza an even more appealing option in the class by providing those features as standard.
With the 2019 Kia K900 being taken up to the next level (including receiving a touchscreen that’s over 10 inches), we think they may also choose to add the 8-inch UVO infotainment system as a standard feature across all trim levels.
4. The 2019 Kia Cadenza will be the best value full-size sedan on the market
Even if Kia just slapped a piece of masking tape with the number 2019 written in Sharpie marker on current 2018 Cadenza vehicles, it would still be the best value in the full-size sedan class. Kia’s combination of providing features that punch way above their class and a price that puts the base Cadenza in line with a mid-range Camry or Accord means Kia’s dark-horse full-size sedan is just another model that gives you more for less.
