2018 Kia Cadenza Specs and Release Date
Is there anything more heartwarming than the story of an underdog coming back and stunning everybody with their transformation? Not according to Hollywood. Movies like the Breakfast Club, Princess Diaries, Dodgeball and even going all the way back to 1954’s Sabrina have captured the magic we feel when we see somebody adopt an unexpected new self-image and composure.
Of course, we bring this up because Kia is the subject of the biggest case study in an automotive brand successfully reinventing itself. The car equivalent of letting their hair down and taking off their glasses, somewhere about 10 years ago, Kia decided they weren’t content to be the “fine” rental car you forgot about the second you passed the keys back to the agent, and they wanted to be sleek and sophisticated and sexy and cool.
And…they did it!
The 2018 Kia Optima is completely unrecognizable from its first generation 2003 predecessor. Previously occupied by the nondescript Kia Spectra, Kia’s modern subcompact entry, the 2018 Kia Rio gives budget-minded drivers more than just a small, efficient car. It gives them a youthfully-energetic urban conquistador.
Spurred by the 2006 acquisition of famed German automotive designer, Peter Schreyer, Kia’s clean-slate approach to building a coveted brand has led them to introduce models well outside of what would be expected for the South Korean automobile manufacturer even 15 years ago.
The 2018 Kia Stinger is the perfect example of this disregard for expectation. Another is the Kia Cadenza. Introduced in 2010 to replace the Kia Amanti, the Kia Cadenza seeks to bring luxurious comfort, decadent features and sophisticated style to Kia’ lineup. The 2017 redesign of the Cadenza has basically accomplished this.
2018 Kia Cadenza Specs
The 2018 Kia Cadenza comes to us with an unusually-late release. Most automotive manufacturers like to release redesigned models early in the previous year to allow marketing to build hype before their deliveries. For that reason, we guess that the 2018 Kia Cadenza would change very little about the award-winning and beautiful 2017 design.
With official word from Kia, it looks as though we were correct! The 2018 Kia Cadenza has arrived offering upgraded standard features on the V6 Luxury Package and a new year to surprise everybody with its fashionable and luxurious approach to the full-size sedan.
Available in three trim levels – Premium, Technology and Limited, the 2018 Kia Cadenza is ready to offer a compelling alternative to conventional luxury brand sedans.
2018 Kia Cadenza performance specs
On every 2018 Kia Cadenza is Kia’s 3.3L V6 DOHC gasoline engine. This engine puts out the following:
- 290 horsepower (@ 6,400 rpm)
- 253 lb-ft. of torque (@ 5,200 rpm)
- 0:1 compression ratio
- 20 city miles per gallon. 28 highway miles per gallon. 23 combined miles per gallon.
Additionally, the 2018 Kia Cadenza includes Kia’s innovative electronically-controlled 8-speed automatic overdrive transmission w/Sportmatic® and Smart Shift & Drive. This transmission is able to use every single one of the 290 horsepower to offer a smooth and precise shifting experience, letting you focus on the luxurious interior and striking technology features rather than how hard your car is working to find its next gear.
4-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS) enhance your control over the 2018 Kia Cadenza.
Standard wheels on the 2018 Kia Cadenza include 18” alloy for the Premium trim level and 19” alloy for the Technology and Limited trim levels.
The 2018 Kia Cadenza features Rack and pinion, electronic motor-driven power steering (MDPS), independent MacPherson front struts with front stabilizer bar and multi-link rear suspension.
