When Is the 2018 Gasparilla Music Festival?

2018 Gasparilla Music Festival Dates and Lineup

It shouldn’t be a secret to anybody, by now, but we love Gasparilla. Every year, we look forward to all the events and the pirate-themed festivities that surround this uniquely-West-Central-Florida gala. Gasparilla has many terrific events during its late-winter/early-spring season and all of them offer Tampa Bay residents the chance to get under the sun and enjoy all the weather and culture that Hillsborough County, Pasco County and Pinellas County have to offer!

One of the most anticipated events of the Gasparilla festival season is the Gasparilla Music Festival. GMF, as it’s known, combines all of the whimsy and fun of the Gasparilla concept and a robust schedule of music that brings artists from around the country to our backyard. Held on a weekend, it gives most people the opportunity to enjoy an action-packed weekend full of music and merriment.

When is the 2018 Gasparilla Music Festival?

2018 sees the Gasparilla Music Festival fall on Saturday, March 10, 2018, and Sunday, March 11, 2018, in downtown Tampa. Gates open both days at 11:30 AM and see musicians performing between five stages. Headlining acts are performing on the Frontier Stage at Curtis Hixon Park and the Sykes Stage at Kiley Gardens. Local artists and entertainment can be found on the Replay Guitar Exchange Stage at Tibbetts’ Corner and the Ferman Amphitheater Stage at Kiley Gardens.

Saturday employs the Morgan Auto Riverfront Outlook for a late night Silent Disco beginning at 7:00 PM. On Sunday, the fifth stage is the Glazer Children’s Museum which sees program specially designed for younger attendees.

Who is Playing at the 2018 Gasparilla Music Festival?

This year, the festival is going to be even bigger than it has been in the past with some major artists announced. Hip-hop legends, The Roots, take the Frontier stage on Saturday at 9:00 PM. Prior to them, you’re able to catch the smooth and dreamy pop sensibilities of Warpaint, who begin at 5:30 PM on the same stage. Between the two, quirky alt-rockers Spoon bring their unique Austin-Texas-borne rock and roll style to the Frontier Stage starting at 7:15 PM.

If you’re only able to make it on Sunday, because you work at Tampa Bay’s #1 Kia dealership, or somewhere else, you’ll still be able to catch one of the biggest acts to hit the festival. Indie folk rocker, J Tillman aka Father John Misty, will take the Frontier stage at 7:00 PM to deliver his critically-acclaimed and intelligent blend of folk, bluegrass and rock and roll.

The full lineup is available on the Gasparilla website, which you can reach by clicking here. Often, the smaller stages can be the best places to discover artists before they catch fire and turn into arena-playing behemoths. Get to know the local music scene. We’ve got a great one here in Tampa, Clearwater, St. Pete and Pasco County.
