Kia Vehicle Production Updates

Across the globe many auto manufacturers put their production lines on standby, halting vehicle manufacturing everywhere. In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, businesses everywhere shut down to keep their employees safe at home. After some time, some companies turned to producing personal protective equipment to help communities throughout the country as we faced the pandemic head-on. Kia was one of the companies.

In April 2020 Kia Motors began creating and delivering medical-use face masks for frontline workers throughout the country. Now as our country has begun to catch up with the need for PPE across the nation, some are wondering when businesses will go back to how they were.

Below we are going to highlight some Kia vehicle production updates to help answer the question of if Kia has begun producing vehicles once again.

Some Kia Manufacturers Get Back on Track

There has been news of auto manufacturers across the country getting back into the swing of things, reopening their doors for employees. For some, things are back to as they were, although now with more safety measures in place. For others, the production of vehicles has been difficult due to a lack of parts shipping throughout the globe.

At this time Kia has five manufacturing plants throughout the globe that produce vehicles for the U.S., with specific vehicles being made at each location. After June 2 all five plants will be back to operating and producing vehicles with some new restrictions in place. Aside from updated sanitation practices and social distancing in place, two of the locations, Mexico and Hwasung, are operating with just one shift.

With all locations for the U.S. back up and running by the end of this week we can expect to see Kia regain momentum with its production of vehicles. As the locations get back on track we are hopeful to seeing new vehicles, like the 2021 Kia Sorento, make their way off production lines soon.
