Phase 1 of Florida Reopening
As we mentioned above, the first phase of Florida’s reopening has begun. The governor has put in place a series of phases to help the state gradually ease back into normal operations. May 3 marked the end of the Safer-at-Home Order and May 4 begins Phase 1.
Most of the counties throughout Florida are taking part in the first phase of the states reopening. With the stay at home order expiring, select activities are able to resume under certain guidelines.
Roughly 80 Florida state parks and trails will be able to resume operations during the first phase of the state’s reopening. Select counties will reopen county-run beaches while still encouraging social distancing amongst guests and restricting some activities.
Under the first phase of Florida’s reopening, the governor is allowing retail stores to resume operations at 25% capacity. This means that many malls throughout the Tampa Bay area will begin reopening with entry limitations set for each individual store.
Elective surgeries were put on hold during the state’s Safer-at-Home Order and now with the order lifting, these surgeries are able to resume like normal. Other health facilities like dental offices, orthodontic offices, health care practitioner offices and more are also reopening.
Just as summer begins, restaurants are able to reopen their doors to dine-in guests. Outdoor seating and dining rooms are able to resume like normal for local Florida restaurants, however, they must follow some rules that have been set in place. No more than 10 people are able to sit at one table and outdoor tables must be separated by at least 6 feet. Restaurants are able to be at 25% capacity for indoor seating.
What is Closed During Florida’s Phase 1?
As the state slowly begins to reopen, not everything will go completely back to normal quite yet. During the first phase of Florida’s reopening, businesses including bars, gyms, movie theaters, and personal services, like hair and nail salons, will not be able to reopen.
