2019 Kia Models at the Movies
As people who love art and creativity (I mean look at the vehicles we sell, right?), movies are a shared pastime among Friendly Kia staff. After all, movies let you get away and jump into a world where the rules that govern our own don’t necessarily apply. It’s also quite a time to be a person with access to a cinema, RedBox or loved one’s Netflix account (judge not).
Movies have always been shared cultural tokens, but they haven’t always been this great. With 2019 looking to be an even bigger year than 2018 was, we wanted to preview some of the biggest movies coming out this year and match them up to the 2019 and 2020 Kia models that would go see them.
Why you ask? Well…it’s kind of a tradition around here.

2020 Kia Telluride is going to see Avengers Endgame on April 26, 2019
Along with probably every single other person alive, the 2020 Kia Telluride has chosen to see, what will almost certainly be, the biggest cinematic event in recent history. The same way Avengers: Endgame puts a capstone on the 20+ Marvel Cinematic Universe movies leading up to it, the 2020 Kia Telluride has put a capstone on Kia’s lineup as the new flagship SUV.
(Light spoiler alert) Additionally, with Avengers: Infinity War seeing the eponymous group of heroes travel to multiple corners of the galaxy, the 2020 Kia Telluride sees similar fearless and go-anywhere ambition.
2019 Kia Sorento is going to see Frozen 2 on November 27, 2019
Beyond simply the family-friendly nature afforded by standard 7-passenger seating, the 2019 Kia Sorento has a lot in common with the upcoming sequel to the 2013 smash-hit Frozen. With available Dynamax™ all-wheel drive, the 2019 Kia Sorento isn’t afraid to “Let it snow.”
Additionally, with the sequel seeing our favorite characters traveling to distant lands (and undoubtedly meeting new friends along the way), the 2019 Kia Sorento has an adventurous spirit that can comfortably take you miles away in peak crossover comfort.
2019 and 2020 Kia Sportage are going to see the Lion King on July 19, 2019
One of your first cinematic experiences may have been the original Lion King. Released in the summer of 1994, this film was treasured for over two decades for its innovative storytelling, lush animated landscapes and pace-setting voice acting.
Similarly, the Kia Sportage is a vehicle you may have taken said ride to the theater in. Released for the 1995 model year, the Sportage has been treasured since its release.
Now in its fourth generation, the Sportage is getting updates over the original that are a lot like the live-action updates Disney has made to this classic story – namely making the Sportage the perfect vehicle for real-life use and one you can visualize yourself in.
2019 and 2020 Kia Soul are going to see Aladdin on May 24, 2019
Another vehicle/movie combo that has been around for a while, both the Kia Soul and Aladdin have an intrepid and daring spirit that won’t settle for unchallenging and mediocre answers to classic automotive questions. For the film Aladdin, this means updating the animated nature to star real-life actors, including a very challenging and bold portrayal of the wish-granting Genie.
For the Kia Soul, the updates are much more universally appealing. Giving drivers standard technology, a range of performance options and as much interior space as vehicles one or two size classes up from other manufacturers, the Kia Soul is the perfect travel companion for your own “desert treasure hunting expedition.”
2019 Kia Optima is going to see Toy Stoy 4 on June 20, 2019
Since the release of the original all the way back in 1995, the Toy Story franchise has delighted and impressed generations of moviegoers with heartfelt storytelling, well-developed characters and cutting-edge CGI animation technology.
Also full of technology, the 2019 Kia Optima is a car that seemingly places no feet wrong. Whether you want to experience an emotional experience (akin to the last ten minutes of Toy Story 3) in the heart-racing, turbocharged Kia Optima SX or a lighter, more efficient story-telling experience (akin to the various Toy Story holiday specials) in the Kia Optima hybrid, the Optima is a vehicle you can count on to be good…
…like we know Toy Story 4 will be!
2019 Kia Forte is going to see Star Wars Episode IX on December 20, 2019
When Star Wars was released, its success was far from guaranteed. Rumors even have it that George Lucas spent the premiere vacationing to avoid the brunt of criticism he expected over the science-fiction-space-opera’s unconventional story and technique.
Like Star Wars (or Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope as it’s known), the Kia Forte didn’t debut with high expectations. However, in its shorter life thus far, it’s gone from being an economy option to a galactic superstar that would make any Rebellion proud.
In its 2019 iteration, the Kia Forte added standard active safety features, which let you “use the force” of radar, cameras and computer systems to successfully avoid hazards. And, while we can’t promise it will keep you unscathed in an unexpected asteroid field, the inclusion of such features has set the pace for the entire industry.
2019 and 2020 Kia Models – Stars of the Red Carpet
As you can see, this year is slated to be a huge one both for film and for Kia models. With a stronger and more expansive lineup than the manufacturer has ever had, Kia is ready to deliver the kind of thrill that keeps you on the edge of your heated, Nappa leather seat.
