2019 Gasparilla International Film Festival Date
If you thought Gasparilla was limited to pirates, well you probably don’t live in Tampa Bay. Although the heart and soul of the festival is the famed pirate Gasparilla and his krewes, the festival exists as an opportunity for Tampa Bay to revel in its uniquely-pleasant winter/spring weather and explore the depth of culture and humanities present in the region.

Today, we’re going to be looking at a festival which celebrates one of our favorite artistic mediums – film.
What is the Gasparilla International Film Festival?
The Gasparilla International Film Festival (or GIFF) is an independent film festival that takes place during the festive Gasparilla season in Tampa. Serving as a platform for established film-makers, debut artists and rising stars alike, the festival highlights some of the most compelling work being done outside of the increasingly-consolidated production companies and studios.
Historically, the festival has served as a launching point for highly-regarded films with talent such as Michael Shannon (The Iceman in 2013), Jake Gyllenhaal (Enemy in 2014) and Sean Astin (Boys of Abu Gharib in 2014).
That said, if you’re somebody who relishes any potential opportunity to run into an actor, director or film participant you like, the Gasparilla Film Festival has seen some famous faces in the past as well, making it an excellent opportunity to meet the people whose work you love.
When is the 2019 Gasparilla International Film Festival?
With various showtimes between March 19 and March 24, 2019, the Gasparilla International Film Festival will bring over 140 films and over 200 directors, actors and film industry professionals to various theatres around Tampa Bay.
